About the Company

John Carter (CEO, Board Member)

Mr. Carter is currently Chief Executive Officer for Pillar Vision, Inc. and leads all aspects of the company. John joined the company initially as its first Master Distributor and has proven his worth by making significant inroads into major D-1 College programs in the ACC and SEC. Prior to Pillar Vision, John had a distinguished business career. He spent eight years leading a corporate division that grew to $85 million in annual revenue. He founded a software company that was later merged with FullScope, Inc. where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board. John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University. He has been a volunteer basketball coach for the last eight years and has a combined record of 122-26.

Alan Marty (Founder, Inventor, Board Member with 3 issued patents)

Mr. Marty is currently Managing Director at Legacy Venture. For the past 25 years, he has held executive and general manager positions at Applied Materials, Hewlett-Packard, and Agilent Technologies. Prior to his business career, Alan was an Associate Professor of physics at Silliman University. Alan received his undergraduate degree in Materials Science from Iowa State University and an MBA and Master's in Education from Stanford University. Alan played college basketball at North Central College. He has three issued patents in optical systems.

William Hooper (Board Member)

Mr. Hooper is President of Monterey Plaza Hotel Corporation and has served in that capacity since 1995. Bill also is an advisor to Acuity II Ventures, a venture capital investment fund. Bill is Chairman of the Board for Borland Software Corporation, a NASDAQ traded software corporation with revenues in excess of $300 million. He has been a director of Borland since 1999. From 1982 to 1985, he was a consultant with McKinsey and Company, a leading business management consulting firm. In 1985, Bill joined Woodside Hotels as Executive Vice President and from 1993 to 2004 he was President. He is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Dartmouth College. Bill played Division 1 basketball while at Dartmouth and was co-captain of the Dartmouth varsity basketball team.

Ridge McGhee (Founder)

Mr. McGhee is currently President of Machine Vision Associates, a firm he founded 10 years ago. Prior to MVA, Ridge worked at Teradyne, Granger Associates, and Sun Microsystems doing product development in graphical user interfaces, large scale simulation, and machine vision. He received his undergraduate and Master's degrees from the University of California at Davis and was a member of the gymnastics team that competed at the U.S. Nationals. Ridge did further graduate work at UCLA in kinesiology and received a Master's degree in computer science from Cal State Northridge. He has published in the Journal of Motor Behavior and won the President's Undergraduate Fellowship for Research in Motor Skill Acquisition.

Dr. Thomas A. Edwards (Founder)

Dr. Edwards is currently Director for Aerospace at the NASA Ames Research Center, with responsibility for a diversity of research efforts including air transportation automation, thermal protection systems technology, and aerodynamic analysis. He earned his B.S.E. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University and holds a Ph.D. and M.S.E. degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. He recently earned an M.S. from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University as a Sloan Fellow. Tom has authored over 40 technical publications on the application of computational methods to the analysis of flight vehicles, and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He has consulted on the aerodynamic design of flight objects such as the Aerobie flying ring, which holds the world record for flight of a hand-thrown object.
